LATEST ADDITION! Caterpillar 374D with XCENTRIC XR80 [Custom 1:50]

Last weekend I received the latest addition in my collection and directly took it to the photo set:

• Caterpillar 374D with XCENTRIC Ripper XR80

I found this custom made Caterpillar 374D 1:50th scale in the new webshop run by the "colleagues" of the 1:1 machinery BouwmachineWeb.com and of course I could not resist the temptation and checkout their webshop without buying it.

The Caterpillar 374D is completely with pins, decals and all the hydraulics for the XCENTRIC Ripper XR80. The scale model comes in the original box from Norscot with a adjusted inner frame.

LATEST ADDITION! Caterpillar 289C Compact Track Loader [Custom 1:48]

This Christmas weekend I visited one of my best friends and fellow Caterpillar scale model collectors and took home the latest addition in my collection and directly took it to the photo set:

• Caterpillar 289C Compact Track Loader

The Caterpillar 289C Compact Track Loader is a "one of a kind" custom scale model. Ad used for this project a "spare" Caterpillar 272C Skid Steer Loader which has been released by Classic Construction Models in a limited edition of only 200 pieces. The model is hand crafted from brass in 1:48th scale. 

He modified the Wheeled Skid Steer Loader version into a Caterpillar 289C Compact Track Loader version and added (as he always does -)) tons of extra details including a scratch built Caterpillar BR172 Brushcutter. As you can see it turned into a true masterpiece and a very valuable and unique addition to my Caterpillar collection!

LATEST ADDITION! Caterpillar 375 Triple Boom [Gaz Evans 1:50]

Last weekend I visited the NAMAC swapmeeting in Houten, The Netherlands and took home the latest addition in my collection released by Gaz Evans and directly took it to the photo set:

• Caterpillar 375 Triple Boom #GB14

I found this custom made Caterpillar 375 Triple Boom kit 1:50th scale in the booth run by the "colleagues" of the 1:1 machinery BouwmachineWeb.com and of course I could not walk by without buying it.

The GB-14 resin boom kit consists of a two piece hydraulically adjustable boom and long stick which can be attached to the Caterpillar 375 Hydraulic Excavator made by Joal or the Caterpillar 5080 Hydraulic Excavator released by ERTL and Norscot. 

The kit is supplied with pins, decals and a pair of hydraulics for the boom. Hydraulic cylinders from the base model are needed to complete the conversion.

LATEST ADDITION! Caterpillar 983B [CCM 1:48]

Last Friday I received from a very good friend in America this latest addition in my collection made by Classic Construction Models (CCM) and directly took it to the photo set:

• Caterpillar 983B Standard version Track Loader

This die-cast scale model is made in a limited edition of only 783 pieces in 2014 By CCM in scale 1:48. There is also a version equipped with a closed cabin and a ripper.

The Caterpillar 983B Standard version Track Loader scale model features an fully articulated bucket, lift arms, and hydraulics and the track assemblies are completely functional with free-rolling sprockets, rollers, and metal track links. This version has an open ROPS, a general purpose bucket and counterweight. The scale model is packaged in a deluxe gift box and comes with a signed certifcate. I'm the happy collector with in possession #700.

New feature! CCM has changed their packaging into a very sturdy hard carton box! Very good development. Keep them coming those models!

LATEST ADDITION! DJB D35 [CypModels 1:50]

This weekend I visited the NAMAC swapmeeting in Houten, The Netherlands and took home the latest addition in my collection released by CypModels and custom built from a kit by my Caterpillar friend from Limburg and directly took it to the photo set:

• DJB D35 Articulated Dumptruck

The DJB D35 Articulated Dumptruck scale model in 1:50 scale which is released by CypModels model is already more than worth it, but with the extra details that have been added by Gertjan when he built the kit it is turned into a small masterpiece and a very valuable addition to my Articulated Dumptruck collection!

Custom scale model builder Dan Silvestru from Dan Models is currently working at the finall steps from his next project developing and building in 1:50th scale of the:

Of course this unique scale model of the No 10 Tractor will not only be provided as a separate tractor. It will be made with the matching bottom dumper.

NEWS FLASH! Caterpillar 980C Wheel Loader Project

Within our group of Caterpillar collectors are builders who built various custom versions by using standard scale models as a donor for their custom project.

It is already many years ago that Ben Gelijk (with help from Ad Gevers) builded in a very limited edition a custom model of the Caterpillar 980C Wheel Loader in 1:50 scale. This gave me the idea to see if I can, perhaps in collaboration with other collectors, also add this model to my Caterpillar 980 series Wheel Loader collection.

After thorough research (thanks Ad and Gertjan) I discovered that the Caterpillar 980C is made by using the Caterpillar 992C Wheel Loader Shinsei in scale 1:75 (Yes, you read that correctly!) and the cabin of the Caterpillar 966D of NZG in 1:50 scale.

On the first three pictures you can see the custom built Caterpillar 980C made by Ben Gelijk and on the next three photos the scale models and the original Caterpillar brochure I'm going to use for my custom project.

If you are interested to build this model, or if you have the model already builded in your collection, let me know through info@minimovers.nl and maybe we can continue together and get this project started.

LATEST ADDITION! Caterpillar D7 [Tootsietoy 1:50]

Last week I received from a very good friend in America this latest addition in my collection made by Tootsietoy and directly took it to the photo set:

• Caterpillar D7 Track-Type Tractor

Whether it does or does not is released by Tootsietoy in exactly 1:50th scale is still a point of discussion among the collector experts. For me, the model had to be a part of my collection. For many years I had a "played sand pit" model in my collection and therefore I was very pleased that I could get hold of a better specimen with the original box. Although not yet Mint Boxed but for a very modest amount I could not resist the temptation.

In addition, I also got a mint copy of the Caterpillar 25th Edition Performance Handbook in my possession. An ideal reference guide brimming with technical background information about Caterpillar equipment.

NEWS FLASH! VW Crafter "PON" Caterpillar Service Van [Creatpshop 1:50]

The following new Creatpshop custom scale model in 1:50th scale is recently announced:

• VW Crafter "PON" Caterpillar Service Van

For this custom built "PON" Caterpillar Service Van Creatpshop has used a VW Crafter from WSI in 1:50th scale and repainted the Van and added his custom developed decals. 

BEWARE: Because it’s nearly impossible to find spare WSI VW Crafter Vans people which are interested have to send Creatpshop their own VW Crafter (or other model). Elie does not sell the decalset alone but he still can modify existing VW Crafters sent by customers:

• Decal set only on White Van: 30€
• Complete painting and decal set: 50€

It is also possible to choose and another brand or model Service Van (VW caddy, Renault Trafic, Opel Vivaro etc) your own customization, for example in the colors of your favorite Caterpillar dealer. But beware the final price will be different because the decals have to be modified.

NEWS FLASH! MEGA Watertanker Set

Within our group of Caterpillar collectors are builders who built various custom versions of Watertankers.

This gave us the idea to see if there might be need to bring a complete set, consisting of spray heads and a spray gun, based on the brand MEGA, the specialist from America for over 30 years and market leader in the field of Watertankers built on the chassis of existing OEM construction machines.

• MEGA Watertanker Set

The MEGA Watertanker Set will as yet consist of four spray heads and a spray gun and casted from white metal material. The set can be applied to an Caterpillar Articulated Dump Truck, Off-highway Truck or Wheel Tractor-Scraper.

On the pictures you can see examples of the masters of the spray heads and the spray gun which are going to be used to make the molds.

Custom scale model builder Gertjan Veld has recently started his next project of building a Caterpillar D10T Track-Type Tractor with Push Blade by using the Caterpillar D10T Track-Type Tractor from Norscot in 1:50th scale.

Today I added the third update of this "The making of... a Caterpillar D10T Track-Type Tractor with Push Blade". This episode shows you how Gertjan Veld takes the original scale model from Norscot and both kits in hand and makes some major adjustments at some points and improves to end up as accurate as possible. You will be amazed with the high standards he sets!

NEWS FLASH! Mack and Special Transport Day 2014

Sunday, October 12th, 2014 was the 35th edition of the Mack and Special Transport Day. As a sponsor of this beautiful event Tonkin Replicas was obviously present. One can look back on a very successful day full of sun, music, good food and, of course, an impressive number of cranes and heavy transport vehicles.

At their booth showed Tonkin Replicas Europe among others the prototype of the Wiesel, terminal tractor, manufactered by KAMAG. They also had the entire Caterpillar range with him, including the pre-production samples of the Caterpillar 568 LL and 568 FM Forestry Machines and the Caterpillar 621K and 627K Wheel Tractor-Scrapers.

Recently, the first DVD of Steven Vale and Jonathan Theobold from the series Earthmoving Trails "A Dutch River Journey" has been released.

Earthmoving Trails is a new series of programmes looking at a wide range of new and not so new earthmovers working in different applications, including digging, demolition and dredging.

This first trail, A Dutch River Journey, follows the River Maas which flows through the Netherlands. The starting point for this programme is just south of the Dutch border at the Belgian Voie Sèche chalk quarry. The next stop is at the ENCI cement quarry on the banks of the river at the Dutch city of Maastricht. Further downstream two specially modified Caterpillar 385s are loading gravel. The next stop is actually on the river where Dutch contractor Martens en van Oord is dredging with floating excavators, again to prevent the river from flooding neighbouring villages.

Demolition features prominently during the second half of the programme and at the next site a specially modified Cat 385 belonging to Beelen Sloopwerken is pulverising the walls of a river lock at Sambeek.

The Port of Rotterdam is the location of the largest demolition project in the country. Journey’s end is on the North Sea Coast where the prestigious Second Maasvlakte Rotterdam Port expansion project is creating new land.

A Dutch River Journey is written and presented by Steven Vale who is a regular contributor to Earthmovers Magazine and has helped make several earthmoving machinery DVDs.

The programme is directed and edited by Jonathan Theobald who has made many documentaries on agricultural and earthmoving machines working throughout the world.

NEWS FLASH! Steinexpo 2014

From 3 to 6 September 2014 in the Basaltsteinbruch Mitteldeutsche Hartstein-Industrie AG at Homberg/Nieder-Ofleiden in Germany the 9th STEINEXPO took place and amazing his visitors at its impressive, tried and tested location – Europe’s largest basalt quarry!

Steinexpo is taken place every three years, representatives of the national and international building materials industry meet here for a unique demo show: Leading manufacturers of construction machinery, suppliers of treatment and preparation technology, suppliers of add-on equipment and service providers present the industry's plants, innovations and solutions successfully and in practical application.

Caterpillar was present and demonstrated their brand-new and recently introduced Caterpillar 374 "F" series Hydraulic Excavator. At the same time came the Caterpillar 772G Off-Highway Truck and matching Caterpillar 988K Wheel Loader in action.

NEWS FLASH! Truck in the Koel 2014

On 29, 30 and August 31, 2014, the third "Truck in the Koel" event was held at the Waubacherweg 20 in Brunssum, The Netherlands.

Truck in the Koel is a unique event on historical Earthmoving Machinery, Trucks, Tractors and Trailers. The vintage Cars and Classic Equipment could not only been admired from close range but where actually in action through out the show!

The making of...a Caterpillar 578 Pipelayer

Custom scale model builder Gertjan Veld has recently started his next project of building a Caterpillar 578 Pipelayer by using the Caterpillar D9R Track-Type Tractor from NZG in 1:50th scale.

It is our goal for the coming period in the "Making of...a Caterpillar 578 Pipelayer" to show you how this custom model will be achieved. 

Gertjan will share his building skills through its construction photos with little notes to keep us informed of his progress. Gradually it shows the making of a unique model of the Caterpillar 578 Pipelayer.

ANNOUNCEMENT! Caterpillar 349E [CCM 1:48]

Classic Construction Models (CCM) has announced to produce two new Caterpillar scalemodels in their 1:48 Diecast Series:

• Caterpillar 349E L Hydraulic Excavator
• Caterpillar 349E LME Hydraulic Excavator

The Caterpillar 349E Hydraulic Excavator, introduced in 2011 and replacing the Caterpillar 345D, continues the industry standards for general, quarry, and heavy construction applications set by the 300 Series family of excavators since the 1990's. 

The operator's station has everything needed to meet the needs for comfort and productivity. All systems can be monitored easily on the large LCD display. The Caterpillar C13 ACERT diesel engine delivers up to 425 horsepower, powering an extensive range of Caterpillar Work Tools for the Caterpillar 349E including buckets, compactors, grapples, thumbs, rakes, rippers, and shears. Quick couplers allow one person to change work tools in seconds for maximum performance and flexibility on a job site.

Specification highlights:

• Caterpillar C13 Acert Engine
• Net Power – SAE J1349: 404hp
• Bucket Capacity: 1.15-5.00yd3
• Bore: 5.2 in
• Maximum Drawbar Pull: 75,300 lbf
• Maximum Travel Speed: 2.9mph

Classic Construction Models is producing the 1:48 scale die-cast model of the Caterpillar 349E Excavator in two versions: the Caterpillar 349E L quick coupler with HD (Heavy Duty) boom and stick which includes two different sized detachable work buckets, and the Caterpillar 349E LME with mass excavator boom, stick and bucket.

Each version also features functioning variable gauge long undercarriage systems, allowing the track assemblies to be posed at full width or narrowed for transport. All aspects of the Caterpillar 349E L are modeled to the usual level of CCM's exacting detail, including hydraulic lines, opening cab, and access to full engine compartment.

Custom scale model builder Ad Gevers has recently started his next project of building a Caterpillar D9E Plow Tractor "van Damme" by using the Caterpillar D9E Track-Type Tractor from RR Models in 1:50th scale.

It is our goal for the coming period in the "Making of...a Caterpillar D9E Plow Tractor van Damme" to show you how this custom model will be achieved.

NEWS FLASH! The making of a Caterpillar...?

Custom scale model builder Ad Gevers[abc] has recently started a special custom project to built a Caterpillar machine for me.

Obviously, from this project a "Making of" will be started, but for now we are curious if you guys have any idea what Caterpillar machine this will be?

To help you on your way here a picture of the first material the courier from Pon Equipment this week came to deliver at Ad Gevers front door.

OUT SOON! BAGGERMODELLE 5-2014

The latest edition of BAGGERMODELLE will be out soon! The magazine presses are running while you are reading this. The Magazine will be available half way September 2014.

• DOOBI D9R IDF Military Bulldozer

It is our goal for the coming period in this "Making of... DOOBI D9R IDF Military Bulldozer" to show how this custom model will be achieved. Ciprian Ursulescu, will share his building skills through its construction photos with little notes from me to keep you informed of his progress. 
Gradually it shows you the making of a unique model of the DOOBI D9R IDF Military Bulldozer.

In this first update, you can see how the development of the cab and the first steps of the Dozer blade are given shape by Ciprian.

NEWS FLASH! Work in progress at BAGGERMODELLE

Very recently, the editorial staff of BAGGERMODELLE moved to new business premises.

But while the paint on the walls is only just dried up, there is clearly directly worked on the preparation of the forthcoming edition of the magazine. Today we are allowed to give you a unique glimpse behind the scenes to give you a little idea about everything that comes with it to capture a scale model in a professional manner in the pictures that will be used in the next edition. 

In the diorama placed in the new photo studio I recognize the custom-built DJB D35 Articulated Dump Truck in 1:50th scale of CypModels so that promises a lot for the next BAGGERMODELLE 5-2014!
